These Scholarship Foundation Fundraiser Canoe/Kayak Clinics have become a tradition, rich with new and renewed friendships, against the background of beautiful North Carolina rivers on which to learn and explore. Come join us! All the proceeds of this event above food cost will go directly to the Frank and Calla Bell Scholarship Foundation, so your vacation and your gift enabling young people to experience camp will be one and the same.
Our head instructor is Gordon Grant. Gordo is a life long paddler, ex-Mondamin camper and staff member, former head of instruction at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, writer for Paddler Magazine, and well known in the paddling world.
We will work with both canoes and kayaks. The clinic targets the "rusty" paddler, the beginner who's had some experience on flat water and is ready to try some whitewater, or the intermediate who wants to work on his or her river running and/or playing techniques. We'll use our local rivers, including the Green, French Broad, Nantahala, Chatooga, and others as appropriate to the skill level of the group. If need be, we'll split the group into more or less advanced skill groupings.
Cost: $500 each adult and $350 for kids 16 and under. Includes meals from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch, instruction and transportation during the clinic, airport pickup, all individual and group canoes and equipment, and lodging in Mondamin's finest cabins (that would mean cots, electricity and hot water!) We accept 12 participants.
For more information, email us, or call 800 688-5789 or 828 693-7446. For a weekend schedule, clothing and equipment checklist, registration form and other details click here.

The paddling clinic is a really fun way to spend a weekend, refresh your river skills, meet some fellow outdoor enthusiasts, and/or get into a new and exciting sport. It's a safe and enjoyable warm-up for the rusty paddler, with top level instruction that will give you plenty of skills and techniques to improve your paddling |
